The proposal is for the construction and operation of a renewable wind and solar generation hub to power Northern Star’s Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) Operations located approximately 10 kilometres (km) northeast of Kalgoorlie-Boulder on mining tenure held by Northern Star.
The Proposal comprises the construction and operation of up to 32 turbines and a solar farm of a combined production capacity of 366-megawatt, a 300-megawatt hour battery energy storage system (BESS), a 132 kilovolt (kV) underground transmission to connect with infrastructure at KCGM, and supporting infrastructure. The proposal will be located within a development envelope of 2,312 ha and will disturb up to 652 ha of native vegetation. Approximately 229 ha of disturbance will be progressively rehabilitated. The proposal occurs within the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Claim area.
