Malaga to Ellenbrook Rail Works

Proposal description: 

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) proposes to construct and operate a new 13 kilometre (km) dual railway track between Malaga and Ellenbrook. The proposed Malaga to Ellenbrook extends from the proposed Bayswater to Malaga railway line.

The proposal includes three new stations at Malaga, Whiteman Park and Ellenbrook with intermodal rail, bus, carpark and active mode (cycling and walking) facilities at each station. A potential future station is also proposed at Bennett Springs and rail stabling facility at Henley Brook within Whiteman Park.

The proposal development envelope is 501 ha and clears up to 123 hectares (ha) of native vegetation in Degraded or better condition and 190 ha of native vegetation in Completely Degraded condition. The proposal will directly impact on Bush Forever site 304, the Banksia dominated woodlands of the Swan Coastal Plain ecological community (Priority 3) and fauna habitat. The proposal may also impact Threatened and Priority flora species.

The Proposal has the potential to impact on sites of heritage significance such as Bennett Brook. Ongoing operation of the proposal may impact on the amenity of nearby residents.
