West Pilbara Iron Ore Project Stage 1 - Mine and Rail

The proposal is to develop eight iron ore deposits at five locations, between 35 and 85 kilometres (km) south of Pannawonica. A heavy-haulage railway approximately 285 km in length would be developed to connect the mine area with a port to be constructed at Anketell Point, 25 km north-east of Karratha. The project would produce up to 30 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of iron ore. This Ministerial Statement was superseded by Statement 1026 and Statement 1027 published on 4 February 2016. Hamersley Iron Pty. Limited (a wholly -owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto) proposes the development of a major iron ore mining operation in the central Pilbara region of Western Australia. Cloudbreak Life of Mine Expansion

The proposal includes the existing Cloudbreak iron ore mine and proposed expansion. The existing mine includes open pit strip mining, backfilling of pits, progressive rehabilitation and ore processing. The expansion includes increasing ore production, development of new pits and permanent waste landforms, the development of new infrastructure, additional dewatering and water disposal activities, an upgrade of the ore processing facility. Eliwana Iron Ore Mine

Fortescue Metals Group Ltd proposes to develop the Eliwana Mine Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The Eliwana Mine Project Area is located approximately 90 km west-northwest of Tom Price. Over the life of the mine, the average annual production rate is estimated at 30 Mtpa but infrastructure will be constructed to reflect peaks in the annual production rate up to 50 Mtpa. Solomon Iron Ore Project Expansion

Fortescue Metals Group Limited is proposing to increase the footprint and mining life of the Solomon Iron Ore Project. The proposal consists of expanding mining operations and rail infrastructure beyond the current footprint. Pilbara Iron Ore Project - revised proposal

Flinders Mines Ltd proposes to revise the already approved Pilbara Iron Ore Project located approximately 70 kilometres north-west of Tom Price in the Hamersley sub-region. The revised proposal includes additional clearing up to 300 hectares (ha) to include the Paragon ore deposit and external infrastructure (including haul roads, airstrip and accommodation camp), as well as an increase in abstraction of groundwater of up to 2 Gigalitre per annum. Brockman Syncline 4 Iron Ore Project – Marra Mambas Proposal

Hamersley Iron Pty Limited propose to expand its existing Brockman 4 Syncline Iron Ore Mine. The expansion would include further clearing of up to 4,800 hectares and expand its current development envelope by 2,567 hectares. Mining Area C - Southern Flank

Revised Iron Valley Iron Ore Project

West Pilbara Iron Ore Project Stage 2 - Hardey Proposal

The project area is located approximately 100km north west of Newman in the Fortescue valley. The project area is approximately 15km south of the Fortescue Marsh, a wetland of national significance, and is intersected by Weeli Wolli Creek, which is a major Pilbara drainage system that discharges to the Marsh.
