Lake Disappointment Potash Project

Reward Minerals propose to develop the Lake Disappointment Potash Project (located approximately 320 km east of Newman). The proposal is to abstract brine from sediments and use solar evaporation ponds on the surface of the lake to create the potash product. The proposal would disturb 7,250 ha of land which includes 437 ha of vegetation, with the remainder of disturbance to the surface of Lake Disappointment. Read more...

West Pilbara Iron Ore Project Stage 1 - Mine and Rail

The proposal is to develop eight iron ore deposits at five locations, between 35 and 85 kilometres (km) south of Pannawonica. A heavy-haulage railway approximately 285 km in length would be developed to connect the mine area with a port to be constructed at Anketell Point, 25 km north-east of Karratha. The project would produce up to 30 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of iron ore. This Ministerial Statement was superseded by Statement 1026 and Statement 1027 published on 4 February 2016. Utah Point Berth Project (Stage B)

The Utah Point Berth Project consists of two separate stages: Stage A: Dredging and Reclamation; and Stage B: Construction and Operation. Stage A, dredging and reclamation works for the UPBP was approved by the Minister for Environment as an amendment to the existing Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) approval and managed according to the approved conditions. Cloudbreak Life of Mine Expansion

The proposal includes the existing Cloudbreak iron ore mine and proposed expansion. The existing mine includes open pit strip mining, backfilling of pits, progressive rehabilitation and ore processing. The expansion includes increasing ore production, development of new pits and permanent waste landforms, the development of new infrastructure, additional dewatering and water disposal activities, an upgrade of the ore processing facility. Fortescue Metals Group Ltd proposes to develop the Eliwana Mine Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The Eliwana Mine Project Area is located approximately 90 km west-northwest of Tom Price. Over the life of the mine, the average annual production rate is estimated at 30 Mtpa but infrastructure will be constructed to reflect peaks in the annual production rate up to 50 Mtpa. Robe River Mining Co. proposes to develop the West Angelas C, D and G iron ore deposits to sustain production at the existing West Angelas iron ore operations. Brockman Syncline 4 Iron Ore Project – Marra Mambas Proposal

Hamersley Iron Pty Limited propose to expand its existing Brockman 4 Syncline Iron Ore Mine. The expansion would include further clearing of up to 4,800 hectares and expand its current development envelope by 2,567 hectares. Revised Iron Valley Iron Ore Project

The Proposal is located within the Pilbara Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) region and is located within the Fortescue and Hamersley IBRA subregions. Pardoo Irrigated Agriculture Project – Stage 3

Pardoo Beef Corporation Pty Ltd proposes to develop a centre-pivot irrigated feed crop production facility. Centre-pivot irrigation is a method of crop irrigation in which equipment rotates around a pivot and crops are watered with sprinklers. The proposal is approximately 100km east-northeast of Port Hedland and 365km south west of Broome. Orebody 18 Iron Ore Mine (s. 46)

The Minister for Environment requested the EPA inquire into the matter of changing the implementation conditions relating to the Orebody 18 Iron Ore Mine proposal, particularly the matter of setting a condition on the proposal that would require environmental offsets for the clearing of native vegetation. Kintyre Uranium Project

Solomon Iron Ore Project

Fortescue Metals Group Limited (Fortescue) proposes to develop two new mines within the Solomon Project, a greenfield site approximately 60 kilometres (km) north of Tom Price and adjacent to the North Eastern boundary of the Karijini National Park, and to construct a 127 km railway from the new mines eastwards to the existing Fortescue railway.
