SCM Chemicals Ltd (the proponent) proposes to continue using its Dalyellup solid residue disposal site beyond March 1994, the expiry date of current approvals for the site. The proposal is to construct a facility to treat wastewater from Augusta to secondary standards and dispose of the effluent by ground infiltration on an area adjacent to the ponds. The Health Department, acting under instructions of the Cabinet Committee on Metropolitan Waste, has proposed a treatment plant for septic tank pumpout material and grease trap wastes, to be located at Westfield. The facility will enable the proper treatment of this material, and the discharge to sewer of the liquid effluent.
