The facility would be owned and operated by the Health Department and only wastes generated in Western Australia would be accepted for disposal. The proposal includes: a high temperature incinerator for the disposal of organochlorines, which at this stage include agricultural chemicals and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's); and an area for burial of intractable solid wastes which include low level radioactive wastes generated from the processing of phosphate rock and monazite.
