Proposed Integrated Waste Disposal Facilty, Eastern Goldfields

Proposal description: 

The proposal is for an Integrated Waste Disposal facility in the Eastern Goldfields region. The facility would be owned and operated by the Health Department and only wastes generated in Western Australia would be accepted for disposal.

The proposal includes:

  • a high temperature incinerator for the disposal of organochlorines, which at this stage include agricultural chemicals and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's); and
  • an area for burial of intractable solid wastes which include low level radioactive wastes generated from the processing of phosphate rock and monazite.
