EPA urges tighter environmental controls in Collie Report 1607

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has released its report on an inquiry into a proposal to change environmental conditions for the Bluewaters power station near Collie.

The Bluewaters Power Station Phase I and Phase II proposals, to construct and operate a sub-critical coal-fired base-load power generating facility 4 km northeast of Collie, were each assessed in 2005.

EPA recommends conditional approval for Thunderbird project Report 1606

A proposal to mine mineral sands has been recommended for approval by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), with strict conditions.

Sheffield Resources Limited’s Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project proposal is located on the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley, approximately 95 km northeast of Broome and 75 km west of Derby.

Office of the EPA determines one non-compliance on Roe Highway Extension
March 29, 2017

An environmental audit on the clearing for the Roe Highway Extension, which is now on hold, found Main Roads WA and construction contractors displayed a “high level of commitment and performance” in implementing environmental approval conditions and management plans.

However the audit identified one minor area for improvement in regards to the correct signage for dieback and weeds.
