Keysbrook Mineral Sands Mine

Project
Proposal description:

The proposal involves the excavation and processing of a low-grade (2.7%) heavy mineral sands deposit near Keysbrook to produce 920,000 tonnes of Heavy Mineral Concentrate (HMC) over 8 years. An area of 30 hectares (ha) would be progressively mined at any time. Topsoil would be removed and stockpiled for use in rehabilitation. The ore would be excavated and unloaded into a dump hopper located on the pit floor. The ore would be conveyed to a screening plant where oversize material would be removed and placed in the mined areas as backfill.
