The proposal is situated on Mining Leases M77/999 and M77/1000, approximately 130 kilometres north of Southern Cross in the Shire of Yilgarn. The proposal is to mine iron ore by open cut mining below the groundwater table in the portion of the W3/5 Deposit at Windarling Range. The Red October Gold Project is located on the western shore of Lake Carey, 80km south of Laverton.
