Alcoa of Australia Limited’s (Alcoa) clearing permit application (CPS 10626/1) to the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is for the clearing of native vegetation for geotechnical investigations. The proposal is to upgrade the Pinjarra Alumina Refinery. The proposal involves an upgrading of the seed filtration facility to improve its efficiency in order to increase the alumina production by approximately 17% to approximately 4.2 million tonnes per annum.
