Speciality Silica Sand Project

The proposal is to establish a silica sand mining operation at Gnangara, approximately 20 km north-east of Perth. Approximately 80% of the proposed project area is located over State Forest No 65 with the remaining 20% of the area covering private land. The area of State Forest which would be affected by the proposal is zoned 'State Forest' under the Northern Forest Region-Regional Management Plan 1987-1997. Long-term shellsand dredging, Owen Anchorage

This proposal is for the first of two stages of long-term shellsand dredging,  involving the continuation of shellsand extraction from specific locations on Success Bank, Parmelia Bank and West Success Bank, Owen Anchorage. Stage 1, as proposed, would create a 1.5km wide by 15m deep seaway through Success and Parmelia Banks by 2014. Relocation of Herne Hill Quarry Operation (s46)

The Red Hill quarry, located at Lot 11 Toodyay Road, Red Hill has been in operation since late 1997. The quarrying operation involves the extraction of hard rock from the West Pit by blasting and/or excavation by wheeled loader. Quarried rock is then transferred to the onsite crushing and screening plant where it is converted into the various products required in the construction of buildings, roads, railways and other infrastructure. Dredging of approximately 9.1 million tonnes of shellsand from two zones on Success Bank, Owen Anchorage over the period 1997 to approximately the end of 2002. Shellsand of high quality, about 92% calcium carbonate is used by Cockburn Cement Ltd (the proponent) for the manufacture of quicklime and cement products. Read more...

Short-term shell-sand dredging, Success Bank, Owen Anchorage

The proposal is to mine 3. 7 million tonnes of shell-sand from a 67ha area of Success Bank over the two year period 1994 - 96. The proposed mining area is along the western side of the developing "second" shipping channel where high grade shell-sand deposits have been defined. The mining will be carried out by a suction dredge and will result in cutting into the bank at the northern end. Cockburn Cement Limited (the proponent) proposes to dredge 3.7 million tonnes of shell sand from 67ha of Success Bank over a two year period. Ransberg Pty Ltd (the proponent) proposes to open up a hard-rock quarry located about 4km east of Mundijong in the Darling Ranges. The proposal is to excavate clay on Lots 23 and 51 Apple Street, Upper Swan, west of the Great Northern Highway and about 14km north of Midland. Clay excavation, Lot 6 Almeria Parade, Upper Swan

The proposal is to excavate clay on Lot 6 Almeria Parade, Upper Swan, west of Great Northern Highway and Ellen Brook Nature Reserve, and about 14km north of Midland. The deposit of highly plastic clay occurs as a shallow clay pan which would be excavated and rehabilitated to a series of interconnecting dams within a three-year period. Long term development of Maddington quarry

Boral Resources (W.A) Limited has submitted a proposal for an extension to its existing hard rock quarrying operation on the foothills of the Darling Scarp at Maddington. The proposal is for an expansion of the quarry area between and to the east of ihe present quarry workings. Application for mining lease 70/423, Bullsbrook

The proposal relates to granting of a mining lease 70/423, just north of Bullsbrook. The lease covers the whole of two reserves, a Recreation Reserve (27583) and a Travellers and Stock Reserve (C1651\). A mining lease (described in Part IV, Sections 71 - 85 of the, Mining Act 1978, ) allows the lessee to mine the land for any minerals for an initial period of 21 years.
