The former Gasworks site at East Perth was used for the production of gas from coal between 1922 and 1971. In March 1988 the Health Department of Western Australia, the proponent, requested that the waste receival time on Saturday at the Westfield Treatment Plant be changed from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon to 7am to 4.00pm. During its assessment of this request (EPA Bulletin 348) the EPA, after consulting with the City of Armadale and other decision making authorities, found the change acceptable.
