Southern Cross Goldfields Limited proposes to develop an open pit gold mine operation and gold processing plant 150 kilometres north of Southern Cross. The Environmental Protection Authority has received a referral for sand mining operations within prospecting licences P 70/1596 and P70/1597. The prospecting licences are proposed to be converted to a mining lease. The Shire of Gingin has referred an application to make alterations and additions to an existing Poultry farm. The application, from Allerding and Associates on behalf of Snowdale Holdings Pty Ltd, is to add four additional free range chicken sheds and associated paddocks, a manure storage shed, workers accommodation for staff, and to relocate the proposed caretakers dwelling.
