The proposal is for the extension of an existing quarry at The Lakes, approximately 16 kilometres east of Mundaring and 47 kilometres south-west of Northam on the Great Southern Highway. Onslow Resources Ltd proposes to mine up to 2.3 million tonnes of river sand and shingle in the Ashburton riverbed within the Minderoo Pastoral Lease.
