The proposal is to construct a nominal 260MW peaking power plant, consisting of: two open cycle air-cooled gas turbine generator sets; standby liquid fuel storage (1.5ML of ultra low sulphur diesel); and ancillary buildings and plant. The Tims Thicket Waste Management Facility is located approximately 15 km south of Mandurah. The Site covers an area of 28 hectares. The Site has been in operation since 1995. The proposal is to upgrade the Pinjarra Alumina Refinery. The proposal involves an upgrading of the seed filtration facility to improve its efficiency in order to increase the alumina production by approximately 17% to approximately 4.2 million tonnes per annum. This will require an increase in the bauxite mining rate at Alcoa’s Huntly bauxite mine and additional bauxite grinding, slurry storage and calcination facilities.
