Contamination Management Strategy for East Perth Gasworks Site and adjacent areas of the swan river

The former Gasworks site at East Perth was used for the production of gas from coal between 1922 and 1971. Since decommissioning of the gas plant in 1971, structures have been progressively demolished. The site is now used as a services depot by the State Energy Commission of Western Australia, which is the owner of the site. The proponents have written to the Minister for the Environment asking that environmental condition 10 part 3, and procedure 1-1 of Ministerial Statement 288 , which affects land owned by Mt Lawley Pty Ltd, be amended to exclude the Mt Lawley land and allow implementation of the Ellen Brook proposal. Clean up of contaminated site McCabe St, Mosman Park

The proposal is to develop the site of an old fertilizer works in McCabe Street Mosman Park for residential purposes. The site had been used from 1910 to 1969 primarily as a fertilizer manufacturing works. Since the early seventies the site has not been actively used. The proponents intend to collect all waste and contaminated soils from over the site and place them into a secure underground storage cell to be constructed on the site. Read more...

Marina and boat launching facility - Dawesville Channel (east entrance)

The proposal is to construct a marina at the north eastern end of the Dawesville Channel, adjoining the planned Eastport canal estate, which has been the subject of a separate assessment by the Authority (EPA Bulletin 671, January 1993). Proposed upgrade and widening of Brookton Highway (Armadale to Brookton)

The proposal is to upgrade and widen the Brookton Highway between Armadale and Brookton. At present the road has a safety problem because the road and its gravel verges are narrow, there are sharp corners and the surface is hilly and rough. Ransberg Pty Ltd (the proponent) proposes to open up a hard-rock quarry located about 4km east of Mundijong in the Darling Ranges. The proposal is to develop a 30 hectare site on Lot 48 and Part Lot 35 Brixton Street, Kenwick, for mixed density housing. The land immediately to the north of this site is subject to a System 6 recommendation and is managed as a conservation reserve by the University of Western Australia, the owner of the land.
