Proposal description: 

The proposal is to establish a second coal-fired base load power station 8km east-north-east of Collie. The proposal includes the construction of two 300 megawatt power generating units and associated infrastructure that will occupy 388 hectares of land. The proposed site is located on the edge of the Collie Coal Basin which is an area that contains the mineable coal reserves in the Collie region.

The report: An integral part of the environmental impact assessment process includes the need to consider all facets of the proposal that may have, cause or lead to a significant environmental impact. These proposals have raised a number of environmental issues related to the State's energy supply and demand policies which have been addressed ln Part A of this Report. The Authority has provided its advice on these issues prior to a Govemment decision on the form the State's next base load power station will take so that it is available for the Government's consideration before making its decision.
