The proposal is for extractive industry on Bussell Highway, Kudardup, in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.
The proposal is based on the Application for Development Approval, June 2020 (ADA) appended to the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s Planning Approval / Consent No. P220293. The proponent has identified a reduced scope to only include extraction of sand from Cells 7, 8 and 9 (gravel extraction for cells 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 is excluded). All other activities within the ADA, including screening and crushing and a 6-meter-wide access road for truck haulage, are included in the proposal.
Extraction is to occur entirely above the water table. No removal or modification of vegetation is required for any component of the development, and the proposal is located on previously disturbed agricultural land. Each extracted cell is to be rehabilitated prior to extraction of another cell. The proposal includes the use of noise bunds, infiltration basins, and surface soil stockpile bunds for cell 8.
