Sand and Clay Extraction, 1728 Great Northern Highway, Bullsbrook

Brikmakers (BGC Australia Pty Ltd) propose to extract clay and sand at Lots 5 and 6 (1728) Great Northern Highway, Bullsbrook. The site was historically used for the grazing of cattle. Therefore, the majority of the site has been previously cleared of vegetation. Several stands of native trees are located mostly to the west of Lot 5 and to the north of Lot 6. Sand Mining Neaves Road, Mariginiup

The Environmental Protection Authority has received a referral for sand mining operations within prospecting licences P 70/1596 and P70/1597. The prospecting licences are proposed to be converted to a mining lease. The proposed sand mining area is located wholly within State Forest 65 (Gnangara pine plantation) which is vested in the Conservation Commission of Western Australia and managed by the Department of Parks and Wildlife. Karnup Sand Mining Project

Urban Resources Pty Ltd proposes to develop a sand quarry on tenement M70/1262, located in Karnup approximately 48 kilometres (km) south of the Perth Central Business District. The proposal would extract 1.5 million cubic metres over a project life of around five years with a total disturbance footprint of around 42 hectares including the mining area, stockpiles, a haul road and site compound. Resource extraction and earthworks for future industrial land development

The most significant impact of the proposed resource extraction involves the clearing of 219 hectares of native vegetation. A beneficial outcome of the proposal is the retention of 218ha of remnant native vegetation for conservation purposes, which includes: • Bush Forever sites 293 and 384 (119ha); and • Threatened Ecological Community (FCT 26a) and Priority Ecological Community (FCT24) (99ha).
