The proposal involves the development of a satellite iron ore mine at Section 10, 20km northwest of the Tom Price minesite, to supplement falling production from the Tom Price mine as it nears the end of its life. The orebody occupies the lower slopes of the main range of hills in the Western Turner Syncline. The proposal involves the dredging of not more than 14.2 million cubic metres (Mm 3 ) of material for eight new berth pockets, a turning circle and a link to the existing shipping channel. The proposal also involves the construction of two new land based dredge management areas (DMMAs). The proposal is to develop a commercial-scale algae farm and processing facilities located near Karratha in the Shire of Roebourne. The project would involve cultivation, harvesting, separation and processing of algae. The Brockman 2 Detrital Iron Ore Mine (B2 Project) commenced mining operations in 1992 in the central Pilbara region of Western Australia. Onslow Resources Ltd proposes to mine up to 2.3 million tonnes of river sand and shingle in the Ashburton riverbed within the Minderoo Pastoral Lease. Mining will only take place when the river is dry and production will be limited by the rate that material is able to be replenished by flow events. Mining will be confined to replenishable material.
