The proposal is to extend existing shell grit Reserve No. 41076 northwards to a total of 13.4 kilometres along the beach on the east side of L'Haridon Bight. The extended reserve would be about 197 hectares, more than seven times its current size. The proposal is to commence sand mining operations. It is estimated that the area contains 7000 - 8000 tonnes of sand, and all extraction will be confined to the eastern slope or leeward side of the dune. The proposed method of operation is to remove the top one metre of the dune surface and stockpile this separately for future use. Minora Resources NL has submitted a proposal to drill a third exploration oil well in its lease, EP 325, Exmouth Gulf. The well is located 13 km south east of the town of Exmouth. Proposal to undertake a seismic survey in an area which partially overlaps the south-eastern corner of Cape Range National Park. The proposal involves 12.9 km of seismic survey in the National Park using the vibroseis technique.
