The proposal is to upgrade the existing Mine facilities by increasing the maximum daily process from 8 000 tonnes to 12 000 tonnes. Ore would continue to be mined from the same orebody currently being mined. The Health Department, acting under instructions of the Cabinet Committee on Metropolitan Waste, has proposed a treatment plant for septic tank pumpout material and grease trap wastes, to be located at Westfield. The facility will enable the proper treatment of this material, and the discharge to sewer of the liquid effluent. The proposal is for a briquetting plant at Collie, Western Australia, approximately 160 km south of Perth. The project is in two stages. Stage 1 is the construction of a plant to produce 30,000 tonnes/year (t/y) of various types of briquettes.
