The proposal is to develop a residue disposal facility at Lot 4580, Panizza Road and upgrade part of Panizza Road, Dardanup. The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has received a referral on the proposal to maintain a permanent water body in Lake Jualbup. The proposal is to convert Lake Jualbup into a constructed lake by lining the lake bed with a polymer additive and constructing sloped banks and concrete walls to reduce water loss to the surrounding environment. The EPA considers that the main environmental issues are associated with the pre-construction site works, which will stabilise and prepare parts of the site before the main construction phase. The most significant impact of the proposed resource extraction involves the clearing of 219 hectares of native vegetation.
