The proposal involves the creation of a nature reserve and bird sanctuary and breeding ground for waterfowl, which would utilise existing wetlands as well as create additional wetlands habitats. The area of the lot is approximately 5.6 hectares. The proponent seeks to retain existing vegetation, as well as planting additional native plant species and an area of eucalypts to assist both in the establishment/maintenance of wildlife habitats and with the reduction of nutrients. The proponents, the City of Cockburn, propose to duplicate a section of Farrington Road, approximately 450 m long from just west of Murdoch drive to approximately 150 m west of Bibra Drive to increase the number of lanes from two to four. The Port Geographe proposal is a residential canal development with harbour, commercial centre and a conservation area. The site lies on the coast immediately east of the existing Busselton built up area, between the ocean foreshore to the north and the Vasse estuary to the south and east. The project site has a total area of 300 hectares. Approximately 114 hectares of the site is proposed to become conservation area and be transferred to the Crown.
