The proposal is to undertake a 3D seismic acquisition survey across a 10,600 hectare area within exploration permit area EP413. The proposal comprises the following elements: Preparation of north-south and east-west vehicle access lanes by cutting vegetation above ground level and mulching greenstock with immediate replacement of mulch in-situ (also known as “raised blade roller mulching”). The proposal is to construct and operate two iron ore mines, haul roads and mine infrastructure in the Yilgarn area of Western Australia, 100 kilometres north of Southern Cross. Following the appeal period and the Ministers subsequent determination on the Appeals received, the Minister remitted this proposal back to the EPA for assessment at the level of Public Environmental Review (8 weeks).
