The Goldfields Gas Pipeline Joint Venture participants propose to construct a buried pipeline from near Onslow to Kalgoorlie, via Newman in the eastern Pilbara. The pipeline would transmit gas from the existing Dampier to Perth gas pipeline to the Pilbara and Goldfields regions, initially for power generation at mine sites owned by the participants. West Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd (WAPET) has sought approval for changes to refuelling practices and oil spill response plans in its offshore permit area, TP/3 Part 1, located west of Onslow. The intended location for disposal of dredge spoil is proposed to be changed from land disposal in No Name Creek (as approved in Ministerial Statement 320 ) to marine disposal in a previously used offshore disposal ground.
