Western Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd (WAPET) is operator for the participants in Exploration Permit No. TP/3 Part 1. WAPET has already drilled some 18 wells within the Permit Area, has developed the Saladin, Cowle and Yammaderry oilfields and is currently seeking approval to develop the Roller Oilfield. The proposal is for the establishment of a solar salt facility, to produce and ship salt from the port of Onslow. The proposal seeks to establish condenser and crystalliser ponds on coastal flats near Onslow, and associated processing facilities to produce up to 1.5 million tonnes of salt a year. The proposal is to develop a gas field near the Harriet Oil Field on the North-West Shelf, 20 km north-east of Barrow Island. This will involve a gas pipeline to collect the gas from four small gas fields and bring it to Varanus Island where it will be treated at an already approved gas processing facility before being piped to the mainland and connected to the State Electricity Commission of Western Australia's (SECWA) Dampier-Wagerup pipeline.
