Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM), operator of Mt Charlotte underground gold mine in Kalgoorlie, proposes to mine two pits adjacent to Mt Charlotte. These pits will uncover the floor pillars of the Reward and Northern orebodies closest to the surface. the underground portions of these orebodies have already been mined as far as possible from underground. The initial proposal by Worsley to develop the Boddington Gold Mine approximately 12km north-west of the town of Boddington was the subject of an EPA evaluation in 1985 (EPA 1985). An Environmental Management Programme was prepared and submitted in 1987 and the mine was commissioned in July 1987. Since that time environmental approvals have been given by the Minister for the Environment for two expansions of throughput, an additional water supply reservoir, the mining of basement and supergene... The previously approved proposal is to mine and process up to 2 Mtpa of lateritic gold ore from the Hedges deposit, which is located in State Forest 4 km south of Mt Wells and 12 km north-west of Boddington. Ore is extracted through an open cut mining operation and is hauled 7 km to the carbon-in-leach treatment plant where the gold is recovered and the tailings deposited in a tailings dam. Process water for the treatment plant is supplied from the raw water supply dam which is replenished by... Read more...Last updated: January 25, 1995
The Boddington Gold Mine was originally assessed by the EPA in 1985. The EPA has subsequently assessed additional project expansions for the mine. Rehabilitation of the mine site is a key element of the commitments and Worsley Alumina has undertaken ongoing studies to assist in the overall rehabilitation. These studies are continuing. Inherent in the original rehabilitation concept for the mine site was the return of waste stockpiles to the mine pits and the maintenance of water quality in... Rutherford Resources Pty Ltd proposes to develop a gold deposit in 'C' Class Nature Reserve No 18584 near Westonia, halfway between Southern Cross and Merredin in the eastern wheatbelt. The reserve has important conservation value due to the small area of land set aside for nature conservation in the wheatbelt. Mining is a potentially acceptable land use in 'C' Class Nature reserves under Government Policy if a proposal is considered to be environmentally acceptable. The proposal is for Stage 2 of the Kanowna Belle Gold Mine, comprising the construction and operation of a sulphide concentrate oxidation plant (roaster) within the existing mine site infrastructure. Stage 2 will provide the necessary facilities to further treat high sulphide containing ores to remove the gold that is not extracted in the Stage 1 plant. Stage 2 will include the addition of a vacuum filter, storage tanks, a roaster, gas train and stack, and additional cyanidation tanks. Read more...Last updated: November 15, 1993

The proposal is to develop three small ore bodies to the east of the main ore body at the Boddington Gold Mine. The three small ore bodies are known as the Eastern Anomalies and it is proposed to mine them as an extension of the existing mining operation. The Boddington Gold Mine is located approximately 13 kilometres north-west of the town of Boddington in the South West region of Western Australia. The Eastern Anomalies area is located outside of the 34 Mile Brook catchment in which the main... Read more...Last updated: June 8, 1990
Inquiry under s46 into amending the conditions of Ministerial Statement 85 . Worsley Alumina Pty Ltd submitted a Notice of Intent for the mining and processing of supergene and basement ores at the Boddington Gold Mine in July 1989. Following assessment of the Notice of Intent by the Environmental Protection Authority, the Minister for the Environment issued a statement "that the proposal may be implemented" on 22 November 1989 (Ministerial Statement 85). Further metallurgical... Read more...Last updated: November 22, 1989
The proposal is to mine and process ore from the supergene/basement deposits at the Boddington Goldmine. The supergene orebody is that zone of mineralisation which lies at the interface of the weathered oxide zone and the fresh basement rock. Standard open cut methods, as currently employed for the oxide ore mining operation, will be utilised to mine the deeper supergene and basement ores. The supergene and some basement ores contain copper mineralisation which can interfere with the existing... Read more...Last updated: October 1, 1988
Worsley Alumina has submitted a proposal to upgrade the existing Boddington Gold Mine facilities by increasing the maximum daily process plant throughput from 12,000 tonnes per day to 16,000 tonnes per day Read more...Last updated: June 3, 1988
The proposal is to develop a project which would reprocess old gold tailing dumps located in the Golden Mile, Kalgoorlie. Anglo American Pacific Limited plans to treat 32.5 million tonnes which may increase to 57 million tonnes if additional dumps are incorporated. The project would mine the old tailings dumps using high pressure water jets from monitor guns. The slurry of tailings would be pumped from the monitor station to the plant site, and then passed through a carbon-leach/carbon in pulp... Read more...Last updated: May 23, 1988
The proposal is to construct and operate a new concentrate roasting facility 17 km north north-west of the Kalgoorlie Town Centre. The proposed roaster would be required to treat approximately 190 000 tonnes per annum of concentrate. This would result in the production of 16 000 kg/hr of sulphur dioxide. A concentrate containing typically 27% iron, 33% sulphur and 35 gram per tonne of gold, would be piped as a slurry to the roaster from the proposed Fimiston Plant. The slurry would then be fed... The proposal is to upgrade the existing Mine facilities by increasing the maximum daily process from 8 000 tonnes to 12 000 tonnes. Ore would continue to be mined from the same orebody currently being mined. It is therefore expected that the proposed increases in the rate of production would shorten the overall project life from fifteen to possibly ten years. The plant facilities required for the upgrading would be an additional crusher, a ball or semi-autogenous grinding mill, additional... Read more...
