COVID-19 Update

Open for business

The Environmental Protection Authority is an essential service and remains open for business during the current COVID-19 pandemic. But it won’t be business as usual. The way we work is changing to meet the needs of our clients, stakeholders and the wider community.

During this period, all phone numbers and emails will remain the same and support staff from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) can be contacted through their normal phone and email channels. Face-to-face business will be impacted, however, and it is recommended that business be conducted through alternate means such as phone or video conferencing.

If you are conducting business with DWER staff, please make contact by phone or email to discuss arrangements.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

The EPA plays a key role in providing government with advice on the environmental acceptability of development proposals and statutory planning schemes, and it will continue to do so.

Any proposal likely to have a significant environmental effect on the environment should still be referred to the EPA. The EPA continues to progress its assessment process and proponent meetings are still taking place via alternate means such as phone or video conferencing.

If you anticipate any significant risk to your ability to comply with the conditions and procedures set out in your Ministerial Statement, please notify DWER by email at compliance@dwer.wa.gov.au or phone 08 6364 6612.

The EPA would like to thank all its stakeholders for their understanding as we work together through this challenging time.
