Proposal description: 

Robe River Mining Co. Pty. Ltd is seeking to extend the life of operations at Robe Valley, located 146 km southwest of Karratha, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. 

The proposal is a significant amendment to the Approved Proposals (MS 776, MS 1112 and MS 1141) and includes the development of new above and below water table iron ore deposits and associated activities to extend the life of the existing operations at Robe Valley. 

The proposal includes, but is not limited to:

  • development of new deposits including above and below water table deposits
  • ore crushing and screening facilities
  • waste rock landforms
  • tailings storage facilities
  • ore, topsoil and subsoil stockpiles
  • surplus water management
  • infrastructure including new accommodation camps, renewable energy infrastructure, support facilities, linear infrastructure. 

The proposal will require an additional clearing of up to 16,802 ha within a proposed 52,181 ha Development Envelope for the purpose of iron ore mining and associated activities. The proposal is located within the Robe River Kuruma Native Title determined areas.
