Irvine Island Iron Ore Exploration Program

Project
Proposal description:

Pluton proposes to undertake a mineral exploration program on Irvine Island to determine the extent of iron mineralisation across the eastern edge of the island. Irvine Island is located within the Buccaneer Archipelago in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The island is located approximately 140 km north of Derby and approximately 11 km from the mainland. The proposal comprises:

  • Collecting (by hand or using hand-based machinery) approximately 800 surface samples across eastern Irvine Island for mineral and geochemical analysis
  • drilling approximately 26 holes at the Isthmus Region and approximately seven holes at Hardstaff Peninsula using a diamond core rig
  • supplying water for drilling via one or two desalination units with ac combine supply capacity of up to approximately 60 kL/day
  • constructing two landing pontoons attached to the rocky coast of Irvina Island for safe embarkation and disembarkation from the transporting boat; one at the Isthmus Region and one at Jonas Point.

Note: This proposal reflects Phase 1 of the exploration program proposed by Pluton Resources Ltd. Phase 2 is available here
