McDougall Quarries Pty Ltd propose to operate a sand and limestone quarry within an approximately 14 hectare (ha) area. The quarry will be mined in 7 stages of approximately 2 ha each.
The proposal is located on agricultural land located approximately 12 kilometres north-west of the Augusta Town Centre.
It is anticipated that 1,314,489m3 of material will be extracted over 10 years. The proposal involves onsite screening crushing and screening of material.
0.1 ha of completely degraded native vegetation will be cleared with the remaining land being pasture. Mining will occur at least 2 metres above the water table and up to 30 kilolitres of groundwater may be abstracted per day for dust suppression.
Rehabilitation will occur following each stage and will consistent of contouring the pit and replacing topsoil in order to establish pasture grass.
