Proposal description: 

Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation is proposing to develop the Baru-Marnda Renewable Energy Project, approximately 50 km south of Karratha, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The proposal is located on Yindjibarndi Ngurra country where Yindjibarndi People hold exclusive possession native title rights and interests.  

The proposal comprises 133 wind turbines and four solar array areas generating up to 1,000 and 500 Megawatts respectively. Other associated infrastructure includes battery energy storage systems and linear infrastructure.

Renewable energy generated and stored by the proposal will predominately be made available for use throughout the Pilbara region via the North West Interconnected System.  

The proposal will be located within a development envelope of 42,127.47 ha and involves disturbance of up to 4,986.4 ha of native vegetation.
