Proposal description

The South West Development Commission is proposing an upgrade to the marine structures that are intended to meet existing demand and future requirements for small craft maritime infrastructure and include new mooring facilities for commercial and recreational vessels, floating jetties, a boat servicing facility, improved public ablution facilities and up upgraded boat launching and storage facilities.

Summary

On 2 July 2024, Department of Transport referred the Casuarina Boat Harbour proposal to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) with a request that the EPA declare the proposal to be a derived proposal under section 38E of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act).

The EPA considered the proposal and request and on 22 July 2024 notified the Minister for Environment of a section 38E Declaration.  Accordingly, pursuant to section 45B(2) of the EP Act, the Minister for Environment issued the section 45B Notice 1 of the taking effect of Ministerial statement 1226, published on 2 July 2024, as it relates to the derived proposal. The section 38E and section 45B Notices are below.
