The Proposal is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. CITIC Pacific Mining Pty Ltd on behalf of Sino Iron Pty Ltd and Korean Steel Pty Ltd is proposing to increase the rate of groundwater abstraction from the mine pits and discharge to the lower Fortescue River and estuary from 12 to 21 GLpa, which is an increase of 9 GLpa. Conditions 6-12, 9-1 to 9-5 inclusive, and 12-1 to 12-8 inclusive of Ministerial Statement 873 are to be removed from the statement and conditions 9-1 to 9-5 inclusive and conditions 12-1 to 12-8 inclusive are to be transferred into a new ministerial statement.
