The Environmental Protection Authority has received a number of proposals, each of which involves an application for a well licence to pursue conventional sprinkler irrigated agriculture. Each proposal was referred to the Environmental Protection Authority by the Water Authority of WA and each property is located within the Swan Coastal Plain catchment of the Peel-Harvey Estuary.

The Authority has also received a number of other proposals for the same class of activity within the Swan Coastal Plain catchment of the Peel-Harvey Estuary which have been withdrawn by the proponents alter they were informed by officers of the Environmental Protection Authority that their proposals would not gain approval.

Of the six proposals assessed, the EPA recommended that two would be environmentally unacceptable, while the remaining four could be managed at their respective locations to be environmentally acceptable. The Ministerial Statements for the approved proposals are below.
