Yanchep Rail Extension: Part 1 – Butler to Eglinton

Proposal description

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) proposes to extend the existing Joondalup railway line by 7.3 kilometres from Butler Station to the suburb of Eglinton in the City of Wanneroo. The proposal is to construct and operate the rail extension and includes two new intermodal (rail, bus, ‘park and ride’, ‘kiss and ride’, walk and cycle) transit stations at Alkimos and Eglinton.

The PTA will operate train services between Perth and Eglinton Stations and bus services from the Alkimos and Eglinton Stations.

The proposal will require the clearing and disturbance of 70.22 hectares, including 1.12 hectares of the Melaleuca huegeliiM. acerosa (M. systena) shrublands on limestone ridges Threatened Ecological Community 26a.

• Decrease in overall clearing and disturbance from 63.3 ha to 57.2 ha
• Decrease in native vegetation clearing from 37.72 ha to 32.3 ha
• Increase in clearing and disturbance of TEC Melaleuca huegelii – Melaleuca systena shrublands on limestone ridges (Gibson et al. 1994 type 26a) from 0.53 ha to 0.73 ha
• Updated Figures 1 to 4 to show changes to the development envelope
• Updated coordinates defining the Yanchep Rail Extension Part 1 – Butler to Eglington development envelope.

Attachment 2 to Statement 1100 - Increase the development envelope from 57.18 hectares (ha) to 60.69 ha. Decrease the authorised extent of native vegetation clearing from 32.3 ha to 31.64 ha. Decrease the authorised extent of Carnaby’s cockatoo habitat that can be cleared from 44.7 ha to 43.98 ha. Update Figures 1 to 4 to reflect the amendments to the development envelope.
