The West Australian woodchip industry

The proposal is to produce 750,000 tonnes of woodchips per year for 15 years in the South West of the State from five sources: Low-grade logs from State Forest Regrowth thinnings in State Forest Saw mill residues Plantations on private property Native vegetation on private property The majority of the resource comes from State Forest managed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management. Proposed ammonia - urea plant, Kwinana

Last updated: August 2, 1988

The proposal is to establish a $450 million ammonia/urea facility in the Kwinana industrial area which will produce 500 000 tonnes per annum (t/a) of ammonia . Approximately half of this ammonia is proposed to be utilised to manufacture 430 000 t/a of urea. The proposal calls for the storage of 30 000 tonnes of ammonia. Proposed ceramics plant, Malaga

The proposal is for a ceramics plant at Malaga, approximately 12 km north of Perth. The proposal involves using up to 7000 tonnes/annum of clay, schist, talc, feldspar and quartz for the production of assay crucibles, cups, and possibly tableware. Woolscouring Plant, Bakers Hill

The proposal is for a wool scouring plant at Bakers Hill, approximately 60 km east of Perth. The proposal involves production of 5 700 tonnes of scoured wool per year, initially, followed later by top making, spinning and knitting facilities. The proposed site is 65 hectares in area, has no dwellings and is deemed suitable by appropriate local authorities.
