Project Proponent City of Gosnells Proposal description The proposal involves the extension of Corfield Street from its present junction with Prince Street, across the Southern River, to connect with Spencer Road adjacent to the junction with Warton Road/Burslem Drive. The link would be constructed to a four laned divided carriageway standard. A direct connection between Corfield Street and Spencer Road has been planned for many years and is included in the Metropolitan Region Scheme as part of a larger 'Important Regional Road' reservation. It is anticipated that the new bridge link would resolve a number of deficiencies in the existing road network (notably at the Prince Street/Fremantle Road junction and the existing two lane bridge over Southern River) and better accommodate traffic generated by residential development in the Gosnells locality. The existing bridge would be retained for use by pedestrians and cyclists for the forseeable future.
