Proposal description

On 21 September 2011, Western Power, through the Minster for Energy, applied to the Minister for Environment for an approval under noise regulation 17 in relation to Western Power’s existing and future electrical distribution transformers. The basis of the application was that the noise emissions from a large number of distribution transformers operated by Western Power do not comply with the assigned noise levels specified by the noise regulations, due to their proximity to noise sensitive premises.

This assessment is pursuant to regulation 17 of the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997.
