The proposal is for the development of a silica sand mining operation at Kemerton, approximately 25 kilometres north of the City of Bunbury. The project site is located on private land immediately north of the Kemerton Industrial Park, covering an area of 1,620 hectares. The proponent would exercise an option to purchase the land if the project proceeds, and following the granting of all necessary approvals. The proposal involves the mining and processing of silica sand at the Kemerton site and transport, by trucking, of the product to the Bunbury Inner Harbour for export.
