Proposal description: 

Buru Energy Limited proposes to build a 630km pipeline adjacent to the Great Northern Highway from Yulleroo (70 kms east of Broome) to Port Hedland, Western Australia (Figure 1). The pipeline will transport natural gas from proposed gas fields in the Canning Basin and tie-in to the Western Australian domestic gas network at Port Hedland. The project also includes up to four compressor / scraper stations, and four separate mainline valve locations. There will be provision for future off-takes to Broome and Derby.

The project is located in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia. The 16-inch diameter buried pipeline will have a maximum capacity of 250 TJ per day and will be located within the Great Northern Highway road reserve.

The Great Northern Pipeline will be buried for its entire length, with above ground facilities only at the inlet, outlet, scraper stations and mainline valve sites
