Proposal description: 

Deras (Australia) Pty Ltd (Deras) proposes to establish and operate a 'wet-blue' tannery within the Shire of West Arthur, approximately 14 km north-east of Darkan. The facility would tan up to 220,000 cattle hides per annum using conventional tanning procedures. Hides would be mainly purchased from abattoirs in the south-west. The site would include a receival yard, a parking area, process building (including storage and office areas), a water reservoir and a wastewater treatment and evaporation lagoon.
