Crimson Metals Pty Ltd is proposing to develop the Mount Gibson Gold Project, located approximately 280 kilometres (km) northeast of Perth and less than 10 km east from the Great Northern Highway, in the Avon Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Substantial mining occurred in the 1980’s and 1990’s and as a result, historical disturbance and infrastructure remain in the area.
The proposal comprises the re-opening and expansion of existing open cut mines, use of existing infrastructure where practicable, and development of a new gold processing plant and associated infrastructure.
The proposal is estimated to process six million tonnes per annum of ore over a 15 year mine life. The Development Envelope is up to 3,820 hectares (ha) with a Disturbance Footprint of 1,612 ha, of which approximately 1,213 ha comprises native vegetation and 399 ha is previously disturbed.
