The Shire of Broome is proposing to undertake an upgrade of the Town Beach Jetty as part of a set of upgrades to Broome’s Town Beach, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The Broome Town Beach Groyne Upgrade and Jetty Project includes upgrades to the existing groyne and the construction of a new concrete jetty extending offshore from the groyne.

Piling works associated with the construction for the new concrete jetty and fishing platform would be undertaken during daylight hours for 2 to 4 months.

The Development Envelope for the Proposal, defining the potential maximum extent of physical disturbance, covers approximately 1.28 ha. The Development Footprint, defining the extent of proposed infrastructure, covers 0.72 ha. The potential direct and indirect impact to mangroves within the Development Footprint is 0.28 ha.

Management and mitigation measures are proposed to be in place during the construction phase of this Proposal.
