The proposal is to develop eight iron ore deposits at five locations, between 35 and 85 kilometres (km) south of Pannawonica. A heavy-haulage railway approximately 285 km in length would be developed to connect the mine area with a port to be constructed at Anketell Point, 25 km north-east of Karratha. The Utah Point Berth Project consists of two separate stages: Stage A: Dredging and Reclamation; and Stage B: Construction and Operation. The proposal is to construct and operate an ammonia plant on the Burrup Peninsula, approximately 1300 kilometres north of Perth. The selected project site is located in the King Bay-Hearson Cove Industrial Area and is approximately 6 and 10 kilometres from the towns of Dampier and Karratha respectively.
