Cloudbreak Life of Mine Expansion

The proposal includes the existing Cloudbreak iron ore mine and proposed expansion. The existing mine includes open pit strip mining, backfilling of pits, progressive rehabilitation and ore processing. The expansion includes increasing ore production, development of new pits and permanent waste landforms, the development of new infrastructure, additional dewatering and water disposal activities, an upgrade of the ore processing facility. West Pilbara Iron Ore Project Stage 1 - Mine and Rail

The proposal is to develop eight iron ore deposits at five locations, between 35 and 85 kilometres (km) south of Pannawonica. A heavy-haulage railway approximately 285 km in length would be developed to connect the mine area with a port to be constructed at Anketell Point, 25 km north-east of Karratha. The project would produce up to 30 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of iron ore. Read more...

Utah Point Berth Project (Stage B)

The Utah Point Berth Project consists of two separate stages: Stage A: Dredging and Reclamation; and Stage B: Construction and Operation. Stage A, dredging and reclamation works for the UPBP was approved by the Minister for Environment as an amendment to the existing Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) approval and managed according to the approved conditions. The Minister for Environment requested the EPA inquire into the matter of changing the implementation conditions relating to the Orebody 18 Iron Ore Mine proposal, particularly the matter of setting a condition on the proposal that would require environmental offsets for the clearing of native vegetation. Wastewater Treatment Plant Stage 1, Chugg street Walpole, Shire of Manjimup

The Water Corporation of Western Australia proposes to construct, commission, operate and maintain a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on a portion of the C class Crown reserve No. 29778 (Forestry Purposes) on Chugg Street, north-east of the Walpole townsite. Pilbara Iron Ore and Infrastructure Project: East-West Railway and Mine Sites (Stage B)

The original proposal, as set out in the proponent’s PER, comprised four iron ore mines in the Pilbara region, an ore beneficiation plant, a borefield, an accommodation village and 160km of east-west railway connecting to the north-south link to Port Hedland. Methanol Complex, Burrup Peninsula

Methanex proposes to develop a methanol complex on the Burrup Peninsula, approximately 1300 kilometres north of Perth. The selected project site is located in the King Bay – Hearson Cove Industrial Area, approximately 6 and 10 kilometres from the towns of Dampier and Karratha respectively. Samson Brook Redevelopment Scheme
