Reid Highway is identified on the Metropolitan Region Scheme as a 'Controlled Access Highway'. When completed, Reid Highway would connect the Mitchell Freeway and Marmion Avenue in the west with Roe Highway just north of Midland. In March 1988 the Health Department of Western Australia, the proponent, requested that the waste receival time on Saturday at the Westfield Treatment Plant be changed from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon to 7am to 4.00pm.
