The proposal is to develop an open cut coal mine at the Premier deposit in the Shotts Sub-Basin of the Collie Coal Basin. The Premier Coal Mine would supply approximately 2 million tonnes of coal per year to the proposed private power station due to be built by 1996. Enquiry under section 46 of the, Environmental Protection Act 1986, for the proposed expansion of the Ewington open cut coal mine. The planned addition (Ewington II) is immediately east of Griffin’s previously approved Ewington mine (Ewington I), and approximately five and a half kilometres east of the town of Collie. Ewington Open Cut Coal Mine, Collie

The Ewington Coalmine is a proposed open cut coal mining operation which is on the same large scale as the Muja mining operation. The mining method would follow the practices being employed at the Chicken Creek open cut operation near Muja in the Collie Coal Basin. This involves an open cut, strip mining operation using a dragline. The Collie Basin is a depression within the Archaean basement containing Permian coal-bearing sediments. The proposal is to develop an open cut coal mine at the Premier deposit in the Shotts Sub-Basin of the Collie Coal Basin. The Premier area is about 10 kilometres east of Collie and consists mainly of State Forest managed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management. Carbon products from peat project, Lake Muir Nature Reserve

This proposal involves two types of operation, a resource extraction stage and a product generating phase. The proposal is to mine peat from within the Lake Muir Nature Reserve, east of Manjimup, and to process the material into a range of carbon and other products. Briquetting plant, Collie

The proposal is for a briquetting plant at Collie, Western Australia, approximately 160 km south of Perth. The project is in two stages. Stage 1 is the construction of a plant to produce 30,000 tonnes/year (t/y) of various types of briquettes. The plant will also produce 70,000 t/y of coal char, some for use in briquette manufacture and some for sale. Stage 2 would be the upgrading of the plant to 120,000 t/y briquette production.
